Transgender Day of Remembrance
An annual event that recognizes the epidemic of Transgender individuals across the U.S. who are violently killed because of their gender identity or expression. This event is a collaboration between several community groups and provides awareness and education to the County about Transgender Lives. The majority of individuals killed are Transgender women of color.
Diversity & Inclusion / EEO Advisory Committee
The D&I/EEO Advisory Committee is comprised of Department representatives. They meet to discuss, learn, and identify challenges and opportunities relating to D&I at the County. The Committee discusses ways to increase and foster diversity, with a focus on HR recruitment/hiring processes, challenges, and areas of improvement to better achieve equal opportunity and a diverse workforce.
Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)
The Commission on the Status of Women meets monthly to analyze current trends and create recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on women’s issues. Currently, the CSW is prioritizing mental health, Census 2020 and the impact of COVID-19 on women and their families.
LGBTQ Commission
The LGBTQ Commission meets monthly to move forward on their work plan which includes LGBTQ Visibility in the County, LGBTQ Policy recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, and create recommendations specific to the collection of Data that impacts the LGBTQ community.
