Commission on Disabilities
To advise the Board of Supervisors regarding the promotion of programs that address quality of service and positive attitudes about people with disabilities; review and report on availability and accessibility of community services to people with special needs; establish a channel of communication with the community to garner input and educate the public to the needs of persons with disabilities.
Commission on the Status of Women
The Commission on the Status of Women’s (CSW) purpose and mission is to assess women’s needs in San Mateo County; to inform and educate others about the status of women; to advise the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning women; and to honor the achievements of San Mateo County women. Each year we have two Youth Commissioners serve on the CSW and who lead projects involving the CSW.
LGBTQ Commission
Cultivating San Mateo County as a welcoming and safe environment where its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community members can thrive.
Veteran’s Commission
The Veterans Commission is charged with recommending programs, plans, procedures and policies that facilitate their access to critical benefits and services and address areas of unmet needs.
Women in County Government
Women in County Government is an organization dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and job satisfaction of all San Mateo County employees. The organization provides great networking opportunities and leadership for all of its members.
STARS Diversity Award
In 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved the implementation of the STARS Program to recognize County programs that demonstrate outstanding customer service and program performance in alignment with the County’s Shared Vision.
